Sixteen Trophies! - November 2006

At the 17th Anglo Japanese Karate Tournament held at the Guildford Spectrum, competitors from all over the country travelled to compete in the tournament.

The highlight of the day for the local Guildford Club was coming away with 16 trophies which included six 1st places.

20 Years Old - October 2006

In October the Club celebrated it's 20th Anniversary.

Black belt Success - August 2006

Following years of training seven students from the Club attended a weeks training course held in Hampton in an attempt to gain their 1st Dan black belt. They were assessed throughout the week with the actual grading being on the last two days finishing with each student fighting a line up of 12 continuous fights against senior grades. The Club coming away with 7 new Black Belts. They were Emily Jones, Rebecca Jones, Raquel Fulgoni, Steve Gurney, Craig Smyth, Robert Smith and Peter Hughes. Quite an amazing achievement. Well done to all of them.

Web site launched - June 2006

Successful launch of the Karate Club's official web site www.guildfordkarate.com

A web site where prospective and existing students can find lots of information about the club, from where and how the Club first started, to training times, costs and a large photo gallery with plenty of pictures to browse through.

Outstanding Display in Bramley - May 2006

Outstanding reviews from the display held at the Bramley Village Fete. There were spectacular displays of karate including Sempai Lindsay Collier breaking a baseball bat with his shin!

National Junior Team Champions - February 2006

Success came in February at the United Kingdom Karate Team Championships held in High Wycombe. There were around 30 teams competing for the title of National Team Champion in 6 different categories.

It was quite a day for the Spectrum based Club, coming away as National Junior Team Kumite Champions and Low Grade Kata Champions. We also won bronze in the Senior Kumite and bronze in the High Grade Kata. Every team member coming away with a medal and some with two!
