Ben Dock, Christine Tomlinson-Niblock and Seb Wimpory
were all awarded Black Belts from the Summer course held
at Hampton this year. Well done to all of them for their hard
work and dedication which led to this fantastic achievement. At the annual Sport Guildford Awards held at Surrey University in July the
Guildford Club was awarded a 'Highly Commended' Community Club award. This is
an award I feel very proud of and which the Club totally deserves.
Even more medals at the Anglo Japanese Tournament - November 2007
The 18th Anglo Japanese Karate Tournament
was held at the
Guildford Spectrum in November. Over 200 competitors from all
over the country travelled to compete in the tournament.
The highlight of the day for the Guildford Club was coming away
with more than ten 1st places. A great achievement.

Medals galore at Richmond U21 - May 2007


In May we had success at the Richmond Borough U21 Karate
Championships held at Hampton Community College. There were
Clubs competing from all around the south east from a number of
different styles of karate. We had a team of 12 who entered the
various different individual kumite categories and we came away
with 11 medals - 2 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze. Quite an achievement.National Senior Team Kata Champions - March 2007
There were many teams from around
the Country competing for the title of
National Team Champions in various
different categories at the National Karate
Team Championship in High Wycombe.
The Guildford Club achieved silver in the Junior
Team Kata event, bronze in the Senior Team Kumite
and an excellent result for the day was Cathy, Anna
and Raquel winning the Senior Team Kata Trophy
and the title of National Senior Team Kata Champions. Very well done.
Sensei Brian Shrubb presented with Special Award - January 2007
At the Kangami Baraki held at the Busen in January Sensei Brian was awarded by Sensei Perry a Special Award for all his work over the years at the Anglo Japanese Tournaments. However, Sensei Brian said that the award should also be for all the other club members who have helped him make the events such a success with a big thank you to all of them.
